Breathless in Bombay by Murzban F. Shroff which appeared in 2008, was the author’s debut short-story collection, published by Picador India.

 

Drawing on the ‘real’ elements which make human life a mixed chalice of joy, sorrow, chaos and so many other things – Murzban F. Shroff’s short-story collection has the strength by which his stories linger on to stir one’s mind.  There is a vibrant account of the city which never ever has stopped to breathe – the city’s situations are engagingly captured.

 

With the powerful force of narration, the writer reproduces the culture and passion of not only Bombay (Mumbai), but brings out the different elements that make every human so different from the other.

 

Murzban F. Shroff is a Bombay-born writer.  As of today, the author has published his work at an expanding speed. Over thirty-five leading journals have published his work in the U.S. and UK, including The Gettyburg Review, The Louisville Review, The Minnesota Review, and Southwest Review.  He is the recipient of two Pushcart nominations and the John Gilgum Fiction Award.  In 2012 the Guardian featured this book fourth among the top ten books set in Mumbai.
